How To Come Up With Life Changing Ideas

Life is simple. If you want something, go get it. If you don’t like something, stop whatever it is you’re doing and change course. Each of us are unique individuals with our own lives, hence, we’re all special in our own way. But because of all the noise in this world, we find it hard to believe. Open up to the possibility that life is simple and that all your problems can be solved easily. It may sound easier said than done, but think about it, why constantly think about how hard something is when you can just go the other way and try something new? It’s time for a change, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s not necessary that if big ideas would be there only then you will be successful, start taking small steps and you will see the results.
Following are some of the life changing ideas that can help kick start your simple life:

10. GIVE UP SOCIAL MEDIA FOR A MONTH:

big ideas
I wouldn’t say social media is a bad thing and that it controls our lives. It is great for communication and connecting with people. But the danger comes when you’re subconsciously using social media, thinking you’re entertained when really you’re not. This happens when you’re randomly surfing your social media feeds just because you want to be updated and not actively seeking to be entertained. Or worse, social media is distracting you. How often do you find yourself reaching for your phone when you’re doing other things? Many of us fall prey to this subconscious realm. Give up social media for a month. Not only would your focus on other things be stronger, but you’d also start to appreciate other activities. And from there, you’re going to learn new things about yourself.

9. TAKE UP MEDITATION OR YOGA:

big ideas
If you read up on successful people, you’d see that meditation is something they all do. Personally, it’s becoming a cliché but it definitely works. The idea of meditation or meditation through yoga is creating a personal space for yourself and allowing yourself to actually breathe properly. This space, or timeout is the actual break you need in your life. This is a time where there is zero distractions. Now, it’s not about taking a break and doing something. It’s about doing nothing. Meditation is about emptying your mind to allow brand new insights to enter your life. Like staving from social media, you’re going to learn new things about yourself as the insights articulate itself from within. And with new insights, you can change your life.

8. TRAVEL:

big ideas
Travelling isn’t just about going on a holiday and escape the stresses of everyday life. Travelling is about exposing yourself to different cultures, places and people. As you do that, you’ll definitely open up in life and start thinking in a different way. Think about it, if you spent your whole life living a certain way in only one place, you’re going to think a certain way only. By travelling and meeting people of different cultures, your own perception of life and how people live will be changed. Effectively, you will not be so self centered as you actually think about others for a change. This is very powerful, especially if you’re pretty sick of what’s going on around you and of the negativity in your head.

7. TRY TO READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN:

big ideas
Read. Read real, actual books. Go to your library and open up yourself to a world of knowledge. Because knowledge is power. That’s not to say reading is about studying and gaining intelligence on a bunch of facts so that you can show off. Reading is a lot of things. It’s giving you space, a place to escape to and gaining confidence from new forms of knowledge from real writers who have something to say. A good start would be reading up biographies of famous people. Do yourself a favor and start reading something real. Get off the internet and stop reading typical Top 10 lists of whatever. And read actual stuff which will help you to change your life.

6. THINK FOR YOURSELF AND QUESTION AUTHORITY:big ideas

Many people blindly accept what they are told by those in positions of authority (political, religious and educational). You should always use your own brain and reason to determine whether or not something is true. I don’t think I can explain this point any better than Timothy Leary does here: “Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.”

5. LIFE IS SHORT:

big ideas
Many people have dreams and desires that they put off until some unspecified future date. Examples include getting fit, having kids, changing occupation or traveling the world. The big question is: what would you do if you had only 1 day, 1 week, or 1 year to live? It is more than likely that whatever it is, you are not doing it or are not doing as much of it as you would like. Remember that life is short, so why not live your best life today.

4. ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

big ideas
One person who is truly passionate about his or her mission can make a difference in the world. When we look at successful people who have changed the world. Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Steve Jobs. We often forget that once upon a time they were unknowns with little more than a dream. You don’t need to become world famous though to make a difference. As Stephen R. Covey puts it, become a trim-tab. A trim-tab on a boat or plane is the small rudder that turns the big rudder that turns the entire ship. People who are trim-tabs act in such a way that their entire organisation is positively affected by their actions. So, believe in yourself and you will make a difference for sure.

3. THE POOR WORK FOR MONEY, THE RICH HAVE MONEY WORK FOR THEM:

big ideas
Most people have the mindset that to get richer, they need to work harder. This is wrong. Sure, working harder will increase your income, but taxes and expenses usually increase at the same time to eat away the benefits. To get rich, learn to have money work for you. What do I mean by this? Well it’s not always necessary to trade your time for money. Instead you can accumulate assets such as investment properties or stocks that will pay you an income whilst often increasing in value. Even better, you can create a system that has the potential to earn you money 24/7. Examples of such systems include starting a business, building a website or creating a piece of art that can earn you royalties. Try to focus and one day you will surely change your life for the better.

2. THE POWER OF BELIEVE:

big ideas
There is no more powerful directing force in your life than your beliefs. All too often we limit ourselves by not believing in our ability to succeed. How often have you looked at an outcome. For example being fit, being rich, having lots of friends, or being a successful blogger and decided whether consciously or unconsciously, that is it too hard or that it will never happen. Rather than being limited by your beliefs you should be empowered by them. What sets the people apart who get to world class is that they have a dream and they believe in themselves. They may not have achieved their desired outcome yet but they can already envision themselves there and this is what drives them on.

1. YOUR LIFE, CHOICES SHOULD BE YOURS:

big ideas
One of the most powerful realizations that you can have is you, through your choices, determine the direction of your life. Nature (genes) and nurture (upbringing, environment) will have a very powerful influence, but they do not determine your destiny. Your destiny is self-determined through your choices. Further to this, you have the freedom to choose how you respond to whatever happens to you. Stephen R. Covey talks about a space that exists between stimulus and response. It is in this space that your freedom to choose exists. This space will vary in size depending on the occurrence, your biological makeup or your upbringing, but it always exists. That is you always have a freedom to choose your response. This is one of the big ideas that if acted upon will change your life forever.
