GAME OF THRONES's SECRETS OUT!! HBO's TWITTER Account Hacked..
Recently a News aired that HBO had experienced a cyberattack. Firstly reported by Entertainment Weekly, the hackers who executed the attack claimed that they acquired 1.5 terabytes of data from the network, including scripts and other content for network’s marquee series, GAME OF THRONES
HBO social media accounts were hacked late on Wednesday adding to the pile of security issues the company has had following leaks of scripts around key shows like "GAME OF THRONES."
Around 11 P.M. ET, Twitter account @hbonow was take over by a group called OurMine. The hackers also HACKED the main @HBO and @GameOfThrones accounts.
THINGS WE KNOW ABOUT THIS -
- HBO confirms on news & other statements that a cyberattack took place. HBO's Chair person and CEO Richard Plepler wrote in an email to employees “The problem before us is unfortunately all too familiar in the world we now find ourselves a part of,”
- FBI is investigating the incident, as its cyber security firm Mandiant.
- If hackers claim of stealing 1.5 terabytes of data is accurate, HBO hack is nearly seven times larger than the 2014 Sony hack.
- The most recent episode of 'Game of Thrones' seventh season, which officially aired Sunday night, leaked online two days before its debut.
- HBO told employee's that its company’s email system has likely not been compromised.
- The company sent a DMCA take-down notice to Google on Tuesday, August 1st, to force the search engine to remove links to leaked HBO files, which is said included “thousands of Home Box Office (HBO) internal company documents” and “masses of copyrighted items including documents, images, videos and sound.”
